Le Nid Tropical

It was hard to leave our little nest! Cyril greeted us warmly and was understanding when our flight delay made us late. Even so, he showed us around the accommodation and shared useful information and local addresses, including the common areas. He was available whenever we needed him, and there was a ti' punch waiting in the fridge, a lovely touch. The place is peaceful and perfectly located. The colorful, traditional huts are pretty and well equipped, and the view of Pigeon Island is magnificent. Great sunsets, too. Simple, practical, excellent value for money. If I’m back in Basse-Terre, I’d gladly return. We had a wonderful stay, thank you! Marie and Florian

The Tropical Nest is a peaceful, idyllic place to recharge, with a remarkable sea view and magnificent sunsets every evening. Our hosts, Cyril and Sandra, gave us a warm welcome, with an aperitif and a bottle of planter's punch they’d prepared waiting in the fridge. The pool is open from early morning until 8 pm, and you can barbecue at the gazebo while enjoying that stunning view. We highly recommend it and look forward to seeing you again. Such an idyllic setting, with beautiful sunsets and a real Creole feel. Everything you need is there, including the pool, kitchen equipment, and washing machine. Florian welcomed us and was fantastic, full of good advice and great conversation. Thanks for a lovely stay.

What bothered me most was how the owners responded to negative reviews. We also had a small colony of cockroaches in the room, and the screaming in the middle of the night made it seem our neighbors had them too. The positive reviews and five-star ratings are hard to understand. I can see the appeal for someone after a homestay experience, but not at this price. The view was the one good thing. Everything else felt poor for €150 a night: the toilet was outdated (there are photos, so you can judge the bowl yourself), the room smelled unpleasant, and the sheets were worn. Comfort and cleanliness should be much better at that price. The value was truly disappointing, almost scandalous. Worst hotel of our trip.
