Hostellerie Les Griffons

We stumbled on this place by chance this morning, and the romantic setting is spectacular. We watched birds building nests from the balcony, with just the right pauses between courses. Jack and the patron were wonderfully attentive, and Jack's tips for local places kept our day going beautifully after we left. Everything was impeccable, from the restaurant presentation to the homemade food. The food gras and gesiers salad was divine and perfectly dressed. The pork and sauce were cooked and seasoned just right, and the creme brulée had a lovely balance of crunch and creaminess. At 73 euros for two, it wasn't the cheapest three-course lunch, but the quality and service were worth every centime. We'll definitely return with our foodie friends. Thank you for a wonderful lunch.

The restaurant sits right by the river, with both indoor and outdoor seating, and the service was superb. Our dinner was excellent: fish of the day, a fantastic bottle of Montrachet, and a spectacular cheese plate. It's an old-fashioned, slightly eccentric hotel, and the young English manager seems to do everything well, from reception and the bar to waiting tables.

The lunch menu was excellent, refined and made with quality ingredients, yet the price was very affordable. What a lovely place for calm and serenity, somewhere that feels a little removed from everyday life. This beautiful old residence has a dining room and terrace overlooking the river running through Bourdeilles and its medieval bridge. You can also sit by the pool and garden. Bravo!
