Citotel Armony Hotel

At least the family room was available at short notice, and it had a kettle with accessories, a working TV, and a shower with good pressure. Finding a hotel with a family room was useful, but the stay was one letdown after another, and I don't understand the four-star rating. The room was very, very hot, about 15C warmer than outside, and the hotel felt extremely warm too, with the doors and windows shut and a somewhat bad smell. The beds were bad, there was a poopstain on the outside of the toilet, and some bathroom tiles were broken. Cigarette buds covered the roof outside our window, and a roof drain made a loud dripping noise all night. We paid €40 for breakfast because our two small kids, aged 1 and 2, were charged too, even though they only eat a single slice of bread each. The bar/restaurant was meant to stay open for another couple of hours, but when we came downstairs just before 21:00 it was closed. A sign said to ask reception if it was closed before 23:00, but reception was shut too, though it should have been open. We'd been in the car all day and had barely any supplies left, so we were desperate for the bar/restaurant.

A handy stop for touring motorists, with supermarkets nearby. It's close to the motorway but surprisingly quiet, and the hotel has a friendly, laid-back feel.

The rooms were exceptionally clean, spacious, and comfortable, and there was plenty of free parking on site. It's a chain hotel in an industrial zone, a few minutes' walk from the nearby town centre. Accommodation is on the ground and first floor. For check-ins outside reception hours, you can contact the live-in hotel manager using the button on the main doors. The hotel restaurant wasn't open when we visited, despite the website saying it should be. Still, it was a great place for a one-night stopover.

The food quality is a major upgrade, and the staff have always been good. We stayed here a year ago, and there have been major improvements.
