Base Camp Lodge

Breakfast was fresh, plentiful, and really nice, and the restaurant itself looks lovely. The room was pretty, clean, and had a nice window, with plenty of places to hang or store things. The bed was very comfortable, and I liked the little details, including the towel warmer and all the small lamps. One thing to know if you're sharing: the bathroom has a frosted glass door like a shower door, and it doesn't reach the floor or ceiling. It leaves the bed area without much privacy, though that may not bother everyone.

The staff seemed lovely and the location worked well for my one night either side of a week in Les Arcs. But the dorm layout made sleeping really difficult. Both nights, people were drinking and talking loudly just two metres from my bed, with all the lights on. The kitchen and hangout areas for hostel guests are right inside the dorms. If you need sleep after skiing or have an early start, that's a problem. I wish they'd kept the social and sleeping spaces separate like other hostels. I really regret not booking a capsule.

It was a comfortable, reasonably priced place to spend one night before heading to Les Arcs. The restaurant and bar had plenty of options, and we could walk to the Funicular with our luggage and ski bags without much trouble. Nothing to complain about.

David made check-in feel welcoming, and the stay was very comfortable. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner, with tasty food and good choices. You can take the free bus to the Funiculaire, or walk there in about 13 minutes. I'd recommend it.
