Chill Chalet is a family owned and managed chalet in Bourg Saint Maurice. It describes itself as the first rider owned snowboard chalet company in the French Alps. The town is a lively, pretty market place at the foot of the mountain, a short walk from the funicular. The ride takes six minutes up to Les Arcs and the Paradiski area. There are direct links to Paris and London, and it's a handy base for Les Arcs and the other Tarentaise valley resorts in summer or winter. The chalet sits back from the road behind a garden with a BBQ. In winter there's usually enough snow for snowmen, and sometimes they light the fire pit for a mug of mulled wine and a chat at the end of the day. Nearby are local shops, cafes, bars, restaurants, rental places, bakeries and a pedestrian street, without resort prices. There are also woods and a park for a stroll. They have the tools to set up and service skis and snowboards, and are happy to help during your stay. A stay includes a twin, double or triple room, breakfast, and evening meals with wine except on Wednesdays. Hot drinks, cakes and biscuits are available all day. Guests can use the 2012 K2 boards and bindings for free, get free ski or snowboard servicing, and use Apple TV, films, music, wifi, a Wii console, books and games. They offer short breaks, check-in times to suit guests, and don't require a package with travel or lift passes. The lift and amenities are within walking distance. They also offer discounted transfers, ski or boot hire, comfortable accommodation at good value, and early booking, one-night-free, returning guest and group discounts. Extra services include lift passes, ski or snowboard lessons and equipment hire, airport transfers or van uplifts, a qualified mountain guide, in-house massages and treatments, a stocked bar, and packed lunches. Their stated aim is good food, good service and great value.
