The owner made us feel welcome from the start, and the accommodation was nicely presented. We spent a week there with 18 other family members. It’s in a peaceful, picturesque spot, with a decent, fairly shallow pool where the kids could play. Houdan is close by, a pleasant little town with regular trains to Paris. We found the place on booking.com, though I think it’s also on air bnb. I’d happily recommend it.

WiFi is available, though it can be a little unreliable. The cottages are all cosy and picturesque, but some feel more up to date than others. The host was incredibly kind and welcoming when we met her. Houdan is a lovely, handy town, with regular trains to major cities. The property is a beautiful place to unwind and explore the region by car or train. It’s quite out of the way, so I’d recommend having a car.
