Chateau D'anjou

The gardens are peaceful, and the pool area is lovely. We stayed two nights, and our rooms and bathrooms had just been renovated. It felt like stepping back in time inside this old chateau, and it made for a picturesque stay. The simple breakfast is served, and dinner is available with a reservation, though we didn't try it. Chinon and Saumur are only 30 minutes away, with tons of great wineries nearby, so it's a perfect base for exploring the Loire-valley. Soundproofing can be an issue if creaking floors or other guests' noise bothers you. We'll be back next year :)

John was happy to lend us cutlery and plates, so we could enjoy locally bought food and drinks in the gardens by the pool. It's a superb setting. Our three nights here were superb too, in a quiet, idyllic, quaint and welcoming place. John was passionate and informative about the house and its history, including ways materials had been reused over the years. For example, the wood panelling in one room came from doors elsewhere in the château, and its diamond cut shows excellent craftsmanship.

The WiFi was slow, though that isn't really why you'd come here. This grand, inviting French château sits in a large garden in the heart of the Loire valley. The owners and staff were friendly and glad to help with recommendations or questions. Our room was very nice, with a large, newly renovated bathroom. Breakfast is served, and dinner can be ordered in advance. There's also a nice swimming pool for relaxing in the afternoon. Highly recommended!

We had a fantastic, relaxed few days at this palace, surrounded by gardens and tranquility. The dinner was very good, and sleeping here really feels like an experience. It's good for kids too, the staff are nice, and some of the main Loire castles are close by.
