We spent five nights at Beau Rivage and found it a great base for exploring Brittany. The Côtes-d'Armor may be a long way from Paris, but there's plenty here for anyone who enjoys the sea, nature, adventure and local food. From the apartment, we swam at the beach, just 100 metres down granite steps lined with flowering plants, walked along the cliffs and visited nearby medieval towns. Our ground-floor apartment was in a traditional old Breton house overlooking a small bay, its port and sandy beach. The residence has four apartments, a flower-filled courtyard and a barbecue. Ours had a fully equipped kitchen, which meant we could buy seafood from local fishmongers and spend less on restaurant meals. The accommodation, including sheets and towels, was reasonably priced for what we got. The owners are a hospitable family who try to sort out any problems. Mobile reception can be unreliable in this remote part of Brittany, but they offered us their landline if we needed to make an important call, and the internet was always available. There's also an optional holiday menu with European and Breton dishes, plus some lovely Russian specialities. Of the places we've stayed on our trips, Beau Rivage was the best choice for us.

The view from our first-floor apartment was lovely, and the location made a good base for visiting the Côtes-d'Armor. The price was a real plus too, with very good value for money. It's a Belle Époque aparthotel and a little dated, so there are a few things that could be improved. The owners were incredibly accommodating, though. They let us keep our high-end mountain bikes in their garage for 15 days.

We had the hotel to ourselves along with our friends. The rooms are apartments, and they were so comfortable...😅

We'd definitely come back sometime. The window had a fantastic view, and Nadia's original Russian cooking was excellent. The two hosts are really nice and friendly, and the apartment was very well furnished. There's also a wide variety of things to do in the surrounding area.

You wake in a storm thinking you're aboard a ship, with the wind howling, the masts creaking and the surf roaring. Then you come fully round, remember how solid the stone house is, and watch the elements from the window. Even the storm left a lasting impression! This is a place for romantics: a house more than a hundred years old, welcoming hosts, and a cozy room or the veranda of the home-cooked restaurant where you can watch the tides. A walk on the beach, an evening beside the fireplace, or a courtyard barbecue with crab or meat, whatever you fancy, all help you soak up the spirit of Brittany. The hosts can point you toward stunning places too, including the pink granite coast, a boat trip, a 12th-century church, an oyster farm and the famous Saint-Michel, among others. I don't have a gift for poetry, and I can't find the words in prose to express how delighted I feel. Thank you to the charming hostess and caring owner. We fell in love with Brittany and France, and promise to return. I wish every traveler the same kind of memories!
