The surroundings weren't very good, and the upkeep was only average.

There are bedbugs in the hotel, reportedly in every room and on every floor, and the staff don't respond to them. Who would be responsible if someone caught an infectious disease from them? I think this is unacceptable and the hotel should be closed. Please pay attention to this review. The place isn't clean, either. The workers seem incompetent, the cleaning staff behave horribly, and the director also comes across as incompetent and behaves badly. The cooks are awful too, humiliating people and acting inappropriately.

We didn't even stay the night. After spending the day in Brest, we chose to drive the 550 km home at night, exhausted, rather than remain in that grim hotel. Men hanging around the common areas made us uneasy, especially for a woman alone or anyone travelling with children. The rooms have no soundproofing at all. You can hear a whisper next door and feel as if your neighbors are in the room. The whole place is filthy and dilapidated. The shared areas are in a terrible state from floor to ceiling and smell awful. The room carpet was so dirty you'd avoid walking on it even with shoes on. The walls and furniture were stained, and it wasn't clear what the marks were. The bed was awful, and the stained sheets were disturbing. The bathroom was old and dirty, the toilet leaked onto the floor, and the light switches were loose or not properly attached. I gave one star because less wasn't an option. If you want a nice hotel in Brest, avoid this one unless you want a miserable stay and to catch diseases. You'll also avoid being ripped off for 57 euros or more, as we were.

The port of Brest is right across from the charming setting, and the fish market with its vivarium is nearby, as are La Carène and its many music and arts events. I had a pleasant stay in a spacious room, and the staff were very friendly. Access for people with reduced mobility is through the rear entrance.
