Mornings began with a spectacular view from our bedroom window, followed by a delicious breakfast in Michele's welcoming breakfast room. After days out, we’d unwind by the pool before going to dinner. Michele Lieurade has made her beautiful historic home a lovely base for discovering this culturally rich part of France, and she speaks fluent English if you want to practice your French. Brioude goes back to Roman times, with hill towns and Romanesque churches nearby. Two villages classed as "les plus beaux villages de France" are only a few kilometers away. Despite all the history and scenery, the area doesn’t feel overrun with tourists. We also had one of our most memorable meals in France at Origines, about a 30-minute drive away. Brioud was a Tour de France stop this past summer. For anyone who loves beautiful scenery, hiking or biking, great food, and Romanesque architecture, this is a wonderful place.

The breakfasts were delicious, with fruit, pastries, bread, and homemade jam, and the heated pool at 28/29 degrees was very pleasant. Our hosts were welcoming and attentive, and worked around our arrival time. The house is beautiful, with a spacious, clean room and a lovely bathroom that looked almost new. It’s peaceful and relaxing, too. The location is excellent, under a 10-minute walk from the train station and the charming town of Brioude.

Michèle welcomed us so warmly, with kindness, useful tips for sightseeing, and a good sense of when to give us space. The bed and breakfast is in a beautifully renovated former vineyard house, with superb views from our room and the terrace. It’s ideally placed for exploring beautiful spots in a stunning natural setting.

We were here for work and were really well looked after. The welcome was top-notch, and the room was magnificent. The hotel sits on a hill in a quiet dead-end, away from the bustle. Breakfast was very nice too. Highly recommend it.
