Camping le Val D'Herault

The owners and their team were so hospitable, and the restaurant was good too. We spent two weeks at Camping Le Val d'Hérault, staying in different bungalows, which were clean and practical. There’s a pool, good facilities, and the river is just five minutes away. See you next year... ;-)

We only had one night in our camper, and wished we could have stayed longer. The restaurant pizzas were really good, and the service was lovely. The site was quiet and less than half full when we visited a few days ago, with lots of shade and a beautiful natural setting. We loved the pool, and there are plenty of nearby places for wild swimming and hiking. We’d definitely return.

We could pick our own camping spot, and there was lots of information and helpful trip advice at reception. Everyone was welcoming, with a family feel around the camping area. Even with the less-than-great weather, the pool was warm enough. The surroundings are beautiful. We'll come again!

The encounter by the river spoiled our stay, and we would never come back. We were already camping at this site, which has direct river access, so we thought we’d spend a relaxing afternoon on the river beach. Other campers were there too. Then a man who worked at the campsite, though we don’t know if he was the owner because no one introduced themselves, came over and asked in front of everyone whether we were staying there. He said the beach was only for campsite customers. We told him we were guests, but being questioned publicly made us feel as if we were trespassing. He didn’t seem to ask anyone else, even though there were lots of other people there. Instead of enjoying the afternoon, we spent the rest of it wondering why we’d been singled out and made to feel uncomfortable in that space. We don’t know whether it was some kind of profiling, whether we didn’t fit someone’s idea of who belonged there, or whether someone had wrongly told the owner we weren’t camping there. We can’t say what happened, only that it left us feeling unwelcome. It would be better to make it clear in advance if some people aren’t welcome, rather than make guests uncomfortable once they’ve arrived. Please do better.
