Hôtel Sanso by HappyCulture (Ex Quality Bercy Bibliotèque)

A laundry is just across the street, about a 1-minute walk, since the hotel doesn't have laundry facilities. The front desk staff are polite, speak English, and provide free coffee and tea in the lobby. The hot water can run out quickly, which is worth knowing if you're traveling with family. After the first two of us had showered, it turned cold while the third person was still showering. We were told it would take 30 minutes to get hot again, which was pretty rough on a cold winter day. After it happened twice, we asked why and were told the hotel uses a stored-water heating system, so showers need to be short. With four people in one room, their suggestion was for two people to shower, then the other two to wait about an hour. Not very convenient.

The main plus is that Sanso Hotel is close to the subway. But the area felt a little dangerous at night, and the reception was a little cold and not very friendly. During our 14-night stay, towels weren't changed daily. Dirty ones were just folded and left in the bathroom. The floor was never cleaned, and the dust and dirt building up across the room were unpleasant. The lighting was terrible too, with no central light, just lights by the entrance and beds.

The breakfast was a major letdown. The room was far too small for the size of the hotel, and there were constant shortages of food, plates, and cutlery. One staff member was trying to handle everything, which meant long waits and poor organization. We also asked about lunchboxes for our early flight two days ahead and were assured it wouldn't be a problem. Then, the evening before departure, we were told there wouldn't be any. Reception's response felt dismissive and unprofessional. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and quite spacious. Housekeeping came daily, towels were changed regularly, and the small bathroom was clean. The location is a big plus, very close to the metro and handy for sightseeing. I'd rate the hotel 3 out of 5 stars. Cleanliness and location were good, but the organization and service need serious improvement.

The location was convenient, just a short walk from the Biblioteca metro station, and the rooms were comfortable and well equipped. We really appreciated that they were cleaned every day. Breakfast was excellent, with the smell of fresh croissants filling the hotel every morning. Reception staff were fantastic and helpful throughout.
