Hôtel Restaurant Le Plat d'étain

That walk by the river through town is a lovely must-do, and the hotel sits just steps away on the main square, overlooking the market hall. We were pleasantly surprised by our stay in Brou. A particularly welcoming new team has recently taken over, and the cuisine is inventive and refined, made by a young chef with real promise. I'll definitely come back next time I'm in town.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the €27.50 set menu was a good choice. We stayed and ate here for two days while passing through Brou with my family. Thanks for such a warm welcome. We highly recommend the place, and wish the new owner the best of luck!

The rooms we had reserved for our guests also fell short, and the new owner's attitude made things worse. He wouldn't listen and was aggressive, even threatening, toward our family. We'd booked this venue directly with him several months ahead for our wedding, but the meal and service were a huge disappointment. There were paper napkins, frozen tarts, little bread to choose from, no bottled water, and a generally lackluster presentation. The cheese platter was ridiculous, and the main course had no taste. Please see the photos below. If you still have time and can make changes, look for another venue. We couldn't change plans just weeks before the event. Good luck to those who come after us.

After the hotel reopened, I tried it and came away pleasantly surprised. The owner was warm and helpful, and I also enjoyed a meal at the restaurant. The cuisine was high quality, worthy of a top-tier establishment, and came from a promising young chef. I highly recommend it!
