Le Village du Lac - Caravan Park

We enjoyed our two nights here and would come back. The reception team were especially kind and helpful when we arrived wanting to change our booking. After a few days of wild camping, choosing a small cabin instead of our campervan worked well for us. Ours was set farther from the road, though anyone looking for total quiet may not find a city campsite the right fit. The village was calm while we were there, but it was easy to imagine it getting busier in peak season. Getting to Bordeaux was straightforward, and reception sells the tickets. Some pitches looked quite uneven. We also noticed that the indoor toilet block seemed much nicer than the facilities on the other side, so which part you prefer may depend on your expectations.

We stayed two nights in the motorhome in December, when not much was open. The staff were lovely, and the on-site facilities looked clean and presentable. It was handy for emptying grey and black water and refilling with fresh water. Bordeaux isn't far away either, and reception sells a return ticket into the city centre for €3.

The washrooms were mostly dirty and didn't seem to be cleaned properly. The pitches had everything we needed, and the bushes between them gave a bit of privacy. It's also well placed, with good connections into town.

We paid €37.50 to stay on the aire inside the campsite because the site was full. The road noise was dreadful, and the nearby bins were overflowing and smelled awful. We were also next to the gardeners' workshops, which were noisy. The pool area had been drained, and we spotted a very large rat by the lake. We could use the facilities, but there was no hand soap, and we couldn't find a working outdoor freshwater tap. This was one of the worst campsites we've stayed at. It's the only one near Bordeaux, and Yelloh seem to have grown complacent because of that.
