La Taverne

We ended up eating here every evening, and the food was the best we had in France. The chef-owner went out of his way to make us excellent meals at very reasonable prices, and on a night when meals weren't being served, the hosts still made us something to eat. They were so helpful and welcoming. Our accommodation elsewhere had been below standard, so La Taverne really rescued what had been a disappointing holiday. On our last night I was given a large bottle of my favourite beer. Thank you both for making the stay such a good experience. Next time we'll stay with you! Martin & Chandee

We arrived with only minutes to spare after a very hard journey and getting caught in traffic around Paris. The hosts couldn't have been more helpful. They offered us a fantastic charcuterie meal along with some great local artisan beer. The room was very comfortable, and there was everything we needed for us and our 3 dogs. This place is an absolute gem, and we'll stop here again.

Breakfast was included, and though it was basic, everything was fresh and tasty: bread, cheese, jams, croissant, juice, and a drink of our choice. The owner was friendly and courteous, and we had a quiet night's sleep with no disturbance from the through road. Our compact chalet-style room, one of four attached to La Taverne restaurant, was basic but very clean, with excellent bathroom facilities. The restaurant was closed during our Easter Sunday visit, though the menu offered a good choice and the village setting was pleasant and semi-rural. My only small gripes were the lack of a kettle or other tea and coffee facilities, and a pillow that was quite firm for my liking. Otherwise, thoroughly recommended. It's an hour from Calais, handy as a stopover on the way onward or as a base for exploring the Somme and Cote de Opal.

We stayed one night on our way down to the south of France. The accommodation was very nice for the price, and breakfast was a nice French one. We arrived too late to try the restaurant that evening, though other guests had great things to say about it. Above all, the owners were very nice and accommodating.
