The spaces at Mas des Pampres made it easy for our three families to spend time together while still having privacy. There were plenty of places to eat, talk, and play, along with quiet corners for reading or taking a break. Multiple living rooms and lovely bedrooms gave children and adults room to settle in, and each family had its own space. The outdoor setup was a hit. The play area had well-kept bikes and karts in different sizes, a trampoline, slides, monkey bars, pétanque, and a little wooden playhouse stocked with dolls and a small kitchen. There was room to run around and play garden games, plus an outdoor gym for adults. The pool area had its own place to sit and eat, as well as a bathroom, which meant no trek back to the house. Inside, children of every age had things to do, from toys, books, games, and crafts to billiards, table tennis, basketball, a huge projector screen, and comic books that the teenagers enjoyed. For babies and toddlers, there were high chairs, cribs and potties in more than enough supply, changing areas in the bedrooms and downstairs, children’s cutlery, baby baths, and steps to reach the sink. Those thoughtful extras made things easier for parents. We were three families with ten children, from babies to teenagers, and every age group seemed considered. The kids kept saying they felt as if they were in a palace from a film or storybook. It really did feel like a dream place for families and big groups, where you can make memories together.

We first stayed at Mas des Pampres in 2019 and were already impressed. Our two weeks there in June 2025 were even better. There were 22 of us over the fortnight, including my father-in-law Joel, his sister and their families. We had 12 people in the house the first week and 15 the second. When Joel suggested the Provence trip to my wife and me 18 months earlier, we knew where to book. Mireille Taton was happy to hear from us and reserve the house. Guests had seen photos and heard our stories, but everyone, young and old, was still amazed when they arrived. The house and grounds have so much room. Outside, there are shady spots under old trees, well-kept plants, and lots of places to sit, lounge, play, or nap. The pool and pool house fit into the garden without taking it over. The recent recreation area has bikes, go-karts, a gym, suction-cup archery, a full pétanque court, a trampoline, and more. Indoors, there are plenty of bedrooms, most with private en suites, and the dining, living, and entertainment rooms handle a crowd comfortably. It’s set up for families of all ages, with high chairs, baby beds, and other gear for little kids. The kitchen has a strong gas stovetop, a large oven, a smaller wall oven, a microwave, a big two-door fridge, and a separate freezer with room for plenty of ice and ice cream. The island has a prep sink and drawers full of pots, pans, dishes, and cooking and storage gear. There’s also a separate tea area with extra storage, including placemats, napkins, paper goods, and kids’ dishes. In the living room, a large hutch and drawers hold several sets of tableware, and there’s a wet bar nearby for coffee or cocktails. From Provençal linens to vases and candles, the house seemed to have every need covered. Mireille and her husband live in an attached home, but the layout, long driveway, and enclosed walls give you plenty of separation, so you may not even feel you have neighbors. At the same time, several boulangeries, food shops, and restaurants are a short walk away, with a large Inter-Marche down the road. Cabannes is handy for that, and for reaching Provence’s towns and attractions. For my wife and me, there was never much doubt this would be the right place. Tweens, teens, young adults, and the older members of our group all felt at home. We’ll return, and I’d say Mas des Pampres is hard to beat for a family holiday.

The location in Cabannes makes it an easy drive to major towns and attractions around Provence, and there’s a first-rate supermarket plus several boulangeries nearby. After days out sightseeing, my children and grandchildren spent nearly every day in the pool. I’ve just come back from a week with my family. It’s a great country house with full amenities and comfortable rooms, and it’s pleasantly air-conditioned. The kitchen is close to professional standard, whether you’re cooking yourself or having someone cook for you. The dining and living rooms are beautiful, and there are shared areas with a pool table and entertainment center. The pool is especially nice in warmer weather. You won’t regret staying here.

The house had everything we needed to keep the children busy, including games, bikes, toys, a large TV screen, and a pool. We were 12 in all, six adults and six children, and found Le Mas de Pampres while looking for a place for a family holiday in Provence. Walking up the shaded path, we immediately felt relaxed and happy. The freshly cleaned house had baskets of fruit and wine on the kitchen counter. Mireille and her husband Pierre welcomed us warmly and were quick to help whenever we needed anything. It made for a really enjoyable, easygoing holiday for our family.

The hosts and caretakers are lovely. They’re fifth and sixth generation owners, and you can see how much care they put into the place. I can’t find fault with it, and I’m sure I’ll return. My second stay here, with a different group, was just as incredible as the first. Inside, the bedrooms are nicely decorated, a good size, and have comfortable beds. Five have modern, spacious ensuite bathrooms. The shared rooms have space for a large group, while there are also quieter corners for a private conversation or a calm morning coffee. The grounds are extensive, private, and meticulously maintained, with majestic Plane, olive, persimmon, and pomegranate trees. Historic towns and sites are close by, mostly a 25-45 minute drive away. We hired a personal chef for all seven nights, and he was impressed by the gourmet, fully equipped kitchen. Highly recommended, ask for Guillaume. There’s a beautiful pool, plus boules, badminton, ping pong, foosball, and an indoor pool table tucked into one corner of the property. We made good use of them. Bikes were available too, and we rode to a lovely new bike path on an old rail line just 150m away. When we said we were interested in morning yoga, the hosts even bought mats for us. It’s a stunning mansion with thoughtful details and a wonderful place for a week away.
