The owner's treatment of guests is why I'm giving such a low rating. The manager rations toilet paper and shower gel. When I asked for more after two days, she seemed baffled and objected to giving me even one small roll of toilet paper per day. I stayed four and a half days. That's unbelievable. Digestive problems happen, and so do feminine hygiene needs. Do I have to explain myself to get more? I've never had this problem at a hotel or Airbnb; they just provide it. It's a basic need, and limiting it is unacceptable. A roll doesn't cost 50 euros, does it? For the whole week, she supplied just two tiny bottles of shower gel, each about two centimetres high. How was I meant to wash my hair if I happened to swim in the sea right next door? Checkout at 11:00 this morning was the worst part. She came in to inspect everything and got upset because the electric towel warmer had been turned on. It was off, but still warm when she touched it. She asked why I was using the heating and said it cost money. I'd needed to dry my sandy beach towels from the night before, and couldn't do anything else. Would she have preferred I use her beach towels and leave them dirty and full of sand? That's her opinion, I suppose. And why install a towel warmer if guests aren't meant to use it? It makes no sense. She was also angry that I'd left the radiator on. That was my fault, but it had been grey and cold for the previous two days. She said she should charge extra for electricity, that some hotels lock the radiators so they can't be turned on, and that she wasn't saying 'see you soon', I should go to a hotel instead. If she's afraid guests will use electricity by the sea, where the weather can change and cold winds blow, why run a guesthouse? She could put people in a cabin in the woods with no water or electricity, and that would be fine by her! I'm not coming back somewhere people are treated with so little kindness or generosity. And on top of it all, the toilet paper is rationed. Honestly, what a shame!

A very friendly welcome, and a quality breakfast. The double room was beautiful and spotlessly clean, with off-street parking. The location is great, close to the centre. More blackout curtains and extra storage would have helped. You can hear quite a lot of footsteps from upstairs and in the hallway, but that's down to the building and wasn't a deal-breaker.

The garden was immaculate, a little patch of green and quiet, and we could walk to the beach with the children, even with a stroller for our 2-year-old. We stayed three nights in the fall with our two children, aged 4 and 2. Booking by phone was easy, and the first contact was warm, just like the rest of the stay. We were welcomed into a beautiful, clean house with tasteful decor. Everyone slept really well. The beds, mattresses, pillows, and blankets were good quality, and we got three nights of 10 hours' sleep as a family! Breakfast was generous and pleased us all. The children played with toys provided by the hostess while we finished our coffee and watched birds in the garden. The location is ideal, near the town centre in a quiet neighbourhood with plenty of parking. We loved it and highly recommend it.

The rooms were very spacious and well equipped, and the Cabourg location was excellent, close to both the centre and train station. We got a warm welcome, with health guidelines followed, and the owner gave us useful tips for restaurants and sightseeing. A great stay at this guesthouse. I highly recommend it.

We found the rooms and location just right, and the host was friendly and attentive. Ask him for ideas on places to see nearby. I'd take off one star for breakfast, which felt limited, especially as it was the same each day. It was croissant, coffee or tea, bread, jam, butter, orange juice, and plain yogurt. I would've liked more pastries or cakes, chocolate spread, and fruit, though I know the health measures may have made that difficult. I recommend this guesthouse.
