ibis Styles Caen Centre Historique

The staff were friendly, the location is ideal in the city, and my room was clean and tidy with a very comfortable bed. There wasn't a desk, though, and the table sloped enough to make working on it uncomfortable. Breakfast was a little disappointing too. Since there's no restaurant in the hotel, there were no scrambled eggs or other hot meal options. I've stayed at several ibis hotels in the city, not ibis Styles, that served a better breakfast.

A nice little hotel right in town, but all three nights I was woken between 1 and 3am by people shouting in the street, apparently drunken students. It was impossible to sleep. Bring earplugs or noise-cancelling AirPods.

The breakfast was great, with lots of breads, cheeses and sliced meats, though nothing hot. Staff were very friendly, and most spoke English. We only got one set of bath towels each. There’s no fridge, microwave, pool or air conditioning, so keep that in mind if you need to store medication somewhere cool. With temperatures at 80 degrees, I had to leave the window open, but a motion-activated light just outside the room kept me awake all night (see pictures). When I raised the lack of a fridge, the front desk person said fridges are only provided in four-star hotels and above, and this is a three-star hotel.

A good-value place in the town centre, with helpful, friendly staff and an excellent breakfast. It was a bit tricky to find, and the long-stay fees in the adjacent parking garage were rather steep.
