Domaine de Camiole (LLI102)

The pool was enjoyable, and we liked the property. Our rooms were roomy enough for four and well equipped. A few more sheets and towels would have helped. The shared areas are starting to show some wear.

We got a last-minute discount on a studio, which was just right for a couple. It's peaceful in the evenings, surrounded by nature, and the pool and fitness area were easy to access and use. The spa and snack bar weren't open, and nobody told us. We also didn't get good help from reception when we asked about nearby towns, food, or events.

Our villa, number 07, had great amenities and its own pool. The shared pool is larger and mainly for apartment guests, with a small snack bar nearby. I didn't try it, but the pool at our villa was awkward to get in and out of if you have mobility issues. The location is quiet and pleasant, and shopping is a short drive away with lots of options. There's not much entertainment. We stayed for two weeks and were mostly left to ourselves, cooking our own meals. The place felt like a home away from home. Wi-Fi was available, though too weak for streaming. I had enough films downloaded on my tablet, so it was fine. When we asked for fresh towels, we were told to give 24 hours' notice. The clean towels and bedding arrived 24 hours later, just as promised. Would I return? Probably. For the same price, I might be able to get a 4-5 star all-inclusive stay, but those places often have a boring buffet with much the same food every day. La Bellevue, a restaurant up in the village of Caillan, served great food and service at good value. If you're British and like tea, bring your own tea bags and proper mugs, since the cups there are quite small. These are my own opinions and the rest of my party may not share them.

The accommodation worked for what we needed, but I'm really disappointed by the poor service. When anyone did respond, it was far too late. Meals took at least two hours, which was ridiculous. And we were expected to clean our own rooms. Seriously?
