We’d booked a room for Tuesday night and had received confirmation, but when we arrived, a notice on the door said the hotel was closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I tried calling the number we had, but couldn’t get through. A French friend called and confirmed that the message said the hotel was closed, so we found somewhere nearby. We were traveling to Germany the next day, so I asked my friend, who lives only a few miles from Hotel du Trinquet, to speak with them when they reopened. He said they claimed they’d sent me the door code and room number, but I never received any message with those details. We were the only ones booked that night and didn’t use the room, water, electricity, or breakfast, yet they refused to give us any refund. I’d stayed there before, but I won’t stay there again.

A perfect spot to have breakfast before setting off on the Camino.

A lovely, old school kind of hotel, with great service, nice rooms, and a superb location. The hospitality felt very authentic.

My favorite place for breakfast out. The recently renovated “trinquet” is worth seeing too, where locals play the Basque version of racquetball. It’s a Cambo landmark for me.

A great spot for breakfast!
