Tohapi Camping La Dune Blanche

The beach is stunning and fairly quiet, just a 5-10 minute drive away. Camiers village and its supermarket are walkable, or only a couple of minutes by car, and Calais is about 35 minutes away. We took Le Shuttle. We really enjoyed our few days here, from 09-13 August, and would definitely return. The grounds and accommodation were beautiful, peaceful and well maintained, with a great bar and pool area. Food trucks, markets and entertainment also came by during the week. We even checked the property prices on site!

Our first day here was devastating. We travelled from the Wirral and were allocated a run-down shed that was an absolute mess. If we weren’t about ten hours and a ferry away from home, I would have left as soon as I saw it. I’d tell people from the UK not to spend their hard-earned money here or waste their France experience on this site. Read the reviews, they’re accurate. I only wish I’d taken my own advice.

The site sits in a pine wood, with pleasant pitches for the mobile homes available to rent. The facilities are modest, though the staff are amazing and friendly. St Cecile Plage is about two miles away, with plenty of restaurants and cafés.

The rooms were cramped for what was meant to sleep six. We had one single bed, one bed and a half, two more singles and a double sofa bed, and animals could still get in with the doors and windows shut and locked. The toilets were dirty, with unhealthy water, and the one I used had poop on the seat. The barman wouldn’t let us use the bar toilet because we were too old to go in, even though I’m 25, and yelled at us to leave. That was really upsetting. The lake had no water for swimming, and anyone who tried would get covered in fish poo. The cleaning building looked like a horror movie house. The pool was only 1.20 metres deep, so I couldn’t swim properly without a child’s foot on my back. The lifeguard seemed unsure how chlorine works, then went on his phone when he was supposed to watch us. A blond-haired, blue-eyed guy kept hanging around me and farted right beside me. His dance moves were strange to my friends and me, and he was always on my back for the whole week. Staff sped along roads where children should be able to play and run, and wouldn’t stop. One staff member let some children on but left the ones at the back out. I found that disgusting. Come at your own risk.
