Camlez is a great base for exploring the coast and this beautiful part of France. The place itself has a lovely atmosphere, with interesting things and artwork all around. Our hosts were welcoming and very friendly. Absolutely recommend it.

The little social café next to the gite was a real highlight, with lovely local people, some of whom still speak Brittany’s local language. The café owner was so kind and drew us a detailed map of nearby walks, including how long each leg takes, parking, and which loops he recommends. There are local products, and you can order baguettes and croissants for the morning at very fair prices. The gite also has useful things to borrow, including a raclette set we were glad to find. We’d left another place a few kilometers away because the host seemed dodgy, and after curfew last month we suddenly had nowhere to stay. The host at the couvent alternatif was so helpful and kind on the phone, welcomed us at the last minute, and did everything she could to make our stay great. If you want an authentic stay in Brittany, I’d absolutely recommend this place.

The Coup du Vent bar/shop is a little gem, and Jean, the owner, is fantastic: knowledgeable, friendly, dependable, and always ready with advice. I came across this charming spot by chance. It’s so peaceful it feels frozen in time, but still well placed for exploring the area. The wooden apartments are old-fashioned in style, yet charming and equipped with all the amenities. Super!

A lovely night here. This place is a real little gem, warm, original, and so welcoming. If I’m back in the area, I’ll definitely stop here again.
