Hotel Le Catala

The village is charming, tucked at the foot of the mountains, and we had a fabulous stay. This hotel is magnificent, with breathtaking decor and paintings that look impressively real and hold so much history and memory. The welcome felt warm, almost like being with family, and the hostess is charming and so endearing. These walls seem to hold a lot of stories and experiences. It's a must-see. I hope this magical place, the hotel and this remarkable woman, who must have carried so much on her shoulders, endure. All I want is to come back.

We were especially taken by the paintings and decorations that give this hotel its own character. The rooms are spacious and well equipped, with excellent bedding, and breakfast is generous and can be served at flexible times to fit the day's plans. There's parking and storage for bicycles, too. The family-run hotel is ideally placed at the foot of the mountain passes: quiet but close to amenities, and handy for sightseeing, walks and hikes in a green setting. The owner's welcome was fabulous. She was exceptionally kind, went out of her way to look after guests, and shared stories, advice and good cheer. This stay became a ray of sunshine in our holiday. It's the sort of hotel that's hard to find these days and has become a must-visit for us. We'll gladly return.

If you like tradition, there's a friendly welcome, a lovely natural setting, clean rooms, and very reasonable prices. The rooms are original too.

We stayed for a week on half-board and loved the excellent evening meal and perfect breakfast. The hotel is very pleasant and peaceful, with everyone attentive and an exceptional welcome. We highly recommend it.
