La Grande Ourse

The house and its setting made a lovely impression, with mountain views all around. It's well placed for cycling, skiing and walking, about 20 minutes from La Mongie ski station, with a bus available, and 15 minutes from Bargenerie de Bigorre and its thermal spa. We had a cosy room with everything we needed, a great new shower room, and very clean shared spaces. The wooden interior mixed rustic and modern touches. I especially liked breakfast with the mountain view and sitting by the fire in the evening. Hélène and Bérengè speak English, Spanish and French very well. We had trouble with Booking, but they answered our calls and emails right away and made us feel confident about the booking. They, along with Ganesh!, made us welcome as soon as we arrived. We ate with the other guests that evening, and they made me a separate vegetarian meal, which was excellent. Lucía and I enjoyed chatting with Hélène, Bérengè and the other guests in English, Spanish and French. Breakfast was a 10/10: croissants, pastries, homemade crepes, fresh juices, cereal, cheeses and excellent coffee. Hélène and Bérengè made sure we left well fed for the day. We also had a great time in the jacuzzi, could dry our ski boots and gloves, and borrowed books while planning hikes. One of the best guesthouses I've stayed in, if not the best. The hosts, room, extra features, breakfast, communication and location were all 10/10. I absolutely recommend it and will certainly come back, and tell friends and family about this wonderful stay.
