Htel Duguay-Trouin

Really good.

The port view from our room was lovely, and the room itself was spacious, though dated. It's an older hotel near the seafront and all the amenities. We had two large single beds pushed together, a separate toilet, and a courtesy tray. The mini-bar had drinks, but only the water was free. The bathroom and toilet are adequate, though they could do with an update. The old-fashioned decor has its charm, but watch out for the narrow spiral staircase. There was no second outlet by the bed, and another outlet in the room didn't work. For parking, ask the attendant at the port lot for a preferential pass for one or two days. They'll gladly provide one, at a much lower price than the rate shown on the machines.

We had the two attic rooms with sea views. They were fairly large, with comfortable beds, and the bathrooms were clean. The housekeeper was very accommodating. We also had a fantastic relationship with the owner, who was exceptionally kind and suggested restaurants and excursions. I know other reviews say differently, but you get back what you give.

If modern decor is what you like, this hotel probably won't suit you. Our room for four was clean and comfortable, and the reception was adequate. But €10 for breakfast is exorbitant for what they offer. It was outrageous, and I think they should lower the price or make breakfast better.
