We had an amazing ocean view from the property, but unfortunately can’t recommend staying there because it’s so poorly maintained. The basement was full of mold and felt very unhygienic. Dust covered the floor fittings and radiators throughout the house. In the kitchen, the drawers were dirty and full of crumbs, and the mugs and plates were sticky, so we had to wash them before using them. The kitchen equipment was inadequate too, with just one cutting board and not a single sharp knife. We stayed over Easter, and the house was freezing when we arrived because the radiators weren’t even on. It took 24 hours to get to a reasonable temperature. The windows were dirty everywhere, and the blinds seemed not to have been cleaned inside for years, with spider webs and dirt all over them. The bikes advertised for guests all had flat tires, and the kids’ bikes needed repairs. My husband fixed them himself. The agency didn’t seem professional. The agent rushed through the house in ten minutes at check-in, and nobody was there at checkout. We followed the checkout instructions sent by email and even vacuumed the living area. We’re easygoing people, so we didn’t raise these issues during the stay apart from the cold house. After checkout, though, the experience became very unpleasant. They wanted to charge us for not recycling four or five glass bottles, even though nobody had told us where to recycle them, and because our children had moved a few small rugs and pillows around while playing. They also wanted to charge us for paint damage that was already there when we checked in.
