Hotel Idéal Séjour

Nicolas was such a great host, and a really nice guy. He went way beyond what I expected. The rooms were very clean, breakfast was great, and there was cold beer in the refrigerator. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

A very cute, quaint boutique hotel, about a 20-minute walk from Cannes’ main strip. The rooms were all good and had the amenities listed. The staff went out of their way to meet our needs, which is rare to see in Cannes.

I stayed in the elves and dragons room, and it was spotless, with a comfortable bed and a really spacious bathroom. The themed rooms are unusual and well maintained, and the whole hotel is clearly looked after. The owner is a lovely, kind, helpful lady who was always ready to assist. Breakfast was excellent, with fresh juice, French croissants, and delicious homemade cakes each morning. The hotel is in a quiet residential area, and you can walk to the centre of Cannes in about 15 minutes.

The owner was very nice and tried to help with all our requests. The rooms are small, but very clean, the beds are comfortable, and the AC worked well. It’s quiet, so we slept well. But the hotel is quite removed from the main Croisette and beaches. For us it was about a 25-minute walk, longer than other reviews suggested, and the uphill route felt isolated when walking alone at night. We always took taxis. Breakfast was the biggest letdown. It was advertised at €15 per person per day, and the photos gave a different impression. During our stay we got toast, plain pots of yoghurt, supermarket sliced cheese and ham, and croissants. There weren’t even baguettes, just dry toast. We’d chosen the hotel partly because we wanted an authentic French breakfast, so this was really disappointing. For that price, I expected some hot food like eggs and bacon, and more French cheeses and bread. At the very least, hard-boiled eggs would have made sense. Nobody offered omelettes, as I’d seen mentioned in other reviews, or the bread basket I’d read about. We ended up walking 15 minutes each day to the nearest cafe for breakfast, and spoke to a few other guests who did the same. I’ve seen reviews describing a much wider selection, which makes me wonder why ours was so basic. The breakfast needs to be consistent. The hotel works for a budget stay, but what we got wasn’t worth the breakfast price.
