Au Royal Hôtel

‼️🛑Really bad experience. I booked two nights, but when I arrived the room smelled of gas. After five minutes I went to the front desk, where I think the owner was, and told him. He said that if I didn’t like it, I should find somewhere else. He didn’t give my money back. Very bad place.

I really enjoyed my room, especially the Union Jack decor since I’m from London. The receptionist was friendly, professional, and always ready to help. It would have been nice to have a small fridge and kettle in the room, though. I had a lovely stay at the Au Royal Hotel.

The area is great and close to downtown, and the price is cheap enough for a night. Breakfast was okay too. But there were stains on the sheets and the walls are very thin, so I wouldn’t give it more than two stars or stay longer.

The rooms looked clean, but the noise and heat made it impossible to get proper sleep. There was no air circulation, and opening the window meant smoke from someone below drifted into the room. The walls are paper thin, so you hear neighbors coming and going and even muffled conversations. We could only manage a few hours of sleep. Breakfast was a joke for the price, especially with a 25% tax. It was just a bread basket and coffee, plus juice if you got there before the other guests drank it all. They don’t refill the carafes. I’m glad we paid for just one of the two days.
