Domaine d'Auriac

We're at the bistro now and excited, the food is super good and so is the wine. The hotel has been in the same family for generations and has that feel of the good old days. Walking onto the grounds feels like stepping back in time, with huge trees, green lawns, and plenty of flowers. The atmosphere and energy are wonderful. Service is excellent, and the bed is very comfortable. Love it here.

The historic building has a lovely atmosphere, and the warm, caring service from the highly professional hotel staff made the creaky doors easy to overlook. Dinner lived up to the place's reputation. The sommelier paired each course with excellent wines, explained them clearly, and kept things light with a good sense of humor. Running an upscale hotel in an old building can't be easy. We'd love to come back for dinner, a stay, and a walk in the park.

It's sad that a restaurant we've visited since 2010, including for Christmas Eve dinners and lunches, wouldn't host us this year because of a “fixe menu”. They wouldn't accommodate us. We're vegetarian and had no problem there in the past. This year it seems vegetarians aren't “permitted” to book a table. Sad!

The room was spacious, and the hotel building, garden, terrace, and pool all have a nice atmosphere. We had a very good meal at the 1 star Michelin restaurant inside the hotel, and the sommelier was very nice. The weak points were sound insulation between neighboring rooms and the very old air conditioner, which was both weak and noisy. I'd expect those things to be fixed in a 5 star hotel.
