Domaine de Campagnac - Gîtes

I spent my wife's 40th birthday at Domaine Campagnac, and it couldn't have been better. I highly recommend it.

The breakfasts brought up to the treehouses on a pulley are a real treat and a must. We stayed in the Tobago treetop cabin at Domaine de Campagnac, where the facilities were superb, with modern furnishings, very comfortable beds, air-conditioning, a fabulous terrace and a hot tub. The pool is a great place to unwind or play after a morning canoeing on the river. Several launch points are only 10-15 minutes away by car. It's a peaceful rural base, with super-friendly hosts, Michel and Annet. Sarlat, Domme and Beynac are all a short drive away, making this a fantastic spot for a family of four to explore the Dordogne Valley. We'd highly recommend this wonderful place!

The location is great, the pool was awesome, and the owners were nice. But we paid over €5500 for two weeks in le sechoir, and the house wasn't clean: there were dirty dishes in the cupboard, and the showers didn't work until I fixed them myself. At 30 degrees it was very uncomfortable. With no air-conditioning or any kind of sunshades, the wooden house got difficult to stay in, and the ventilation system in the bedroom made a constant noise that kept me awake. The owners should try staying there for a week or two themselves. Maybe then they'd see that maintenance and some way to cool the house are necessary.

It was a lovely, relaxing place with great facilities. We especially enjoyed the pool and sauna.
