Hotel Des Calanques

The service was among the best I've had, and the accommodations were well organized. It's in an excellent spot too. A very good hotel, and I’ll definitely come back. 👏🏻

Carla and Natasha at reception were incredibly friendly and accommodating. They let us leave our bags when we arrived before check-in so we could explore, and again for part of the day after checkout. We could also use the bathroom when we came back to collect them. That hospitality is why I’m giving this two-star hotel five stars. It’s great for travelers looking for simple rooms, a good location, and a fair price. The rooms are modest, as the description says, and ours was small but clean. The beds were basic, comfortable, and clean, with two pillows per single bed and a decorative cover at the foot. The location is just right, close to shops, the bus, food, and the beach, but away from the noise by the waterfront restaurants. There’s no elevator, so it won’t suit anyone who has trouble with stairs. We didn’t eat breakfast, so I can’t comment on it. A couple of room details were awkward. The bathroom door slides open and shut without locking, though if you’re sharing, you probably know each other pretty well anyway. The room door lock was tricky too, since you have to use the key to lock it from both outside and inside. That was my main downside, and I hope they can install an easier inside lock as business grows.

We booked a room through Booking, but when we arrived they said they didn’t have one for us. The owner showed us another room, but it was very small. They asked us to cancel the booking and offered an apartment for €250 a night. I can’t recommend this hotel.

The staff were really friendly, and the price was reasonable. We had good wifi and air conditioning in the room. Breakfast and parking were available for an extra charge, and the location was central and convenient. The room was incredibly cramped. There wasn’t enough space to open a suitcase on the floor. The bathroom is basically part of the bedroom, and its door doesn’t properly shut, so privacy is limited. We were on the fourth floor with no elevator and a narrow staircase. The balcony was tiny, and the parking was a bit far away with very small spaces, so it wasn’t convenient. Maybe that setup is normal, and you may not want to drive anyway, but I found it a little odd.
