As a visitor from the US and an experienced traveller, I can say Hotel des Consuls is a real gem. We loved our stay in beautiful Castelnau-de-Montmiral. The owners are friendly and helpful, and breakfast was fresh each day. Visit the Tarn region and stay here, you'll fall in love with the town and its people :)

Mark made us feel like we belonged in the village at this historic bed and breakfast. It's a really good choice for a stay in southern France. There is no AC, but that didn't disrupt our visit.

The room looked pretty, but it was small and unbearably hot. There was no air conditioning, despite what we thought we’d seen on the booking site, and not even a fan. With the windows shut and the shutters and curtains open, nothing seemed to be done to keep the room cool. Summer temperatures in France can reach the high 30s Celsius, and I couldn’t imagine sleeping there. We booked somewhere lovely and full of character in Gaillac, about 15 minutes away, after getting help from the tourist information office next door. We’d booked this place but didn’t stay. I wouldn’t recommend the upper floors in summer.

Right in the middle of this historic hill town, this old hotel has loads of charm. We had a fantastic room, a great breakfast, and a very helpful host.

I first stayed here on my first visit to the village, and I’ve returned quite a few times since. The owners and staff are as helpful as they could possibly be, and the hotel is charming. The village is a real 13th-century bastide and well worth a look around, as is the surrounding region. Five stars from me.
