For a cheap 1* hotel, I’m being generous. The room is basic, though it does have a sink, TV, and USB charging points. The toilet is a step up from a hole in the ground. There’s hot water in the shower, but the spring-loaded tap shuts off too quickly when you press it. I ordered breakfast, but was told there’s no meat. “Selection” might be too generous a word for what was on display.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel was easy enough to find at the end of a short road. Go past the Hotel Ibis entrance and Hotel F1 is visible on the right, across from the commercial area. It’s basic, but adequate for a night. There’s a little breakfast space next to reception, with the counter covered by a metal shutter at other times. The rooms don’t have their own bathrooms, so you use the separate toilets and showers in the corridor. The room door can be fiddly: pull the round handle, enter the code, then push once you hear the click. The mattress was very comfortable. The shower took a while to get warm, but was nice after that. I’d suggest bringing a bottle for a middle-of-the-night pee.

We thought we’d booked a family room with a double bed and a bunk bed, since there are six of us and the kids could sleep top to tail as they’ve done many times before. We were told that wasn’t possible, and we couldn’t book another room either. So we had to leave and find another hotel, and they didn’t refund the booking payment. They didn’t seem interested in helping at all.

Housekeeping knocking and opening my door at 3 in the morning was the last straw. I’d already been overlooking the fact that at all F1 hotels, check-out is at 12:00 but cleaning staff knock and open doors around 9-10 am. That night visit was something else. This was my last stay in F1. Never again.

It’s a basic hotel, as you’d expect from the F1 brand, but it did the job for one night. The staff were friendly and helpful, and it was fairly easy to find at the end of a small road. Go past the Hotel Ibis entrance, and Hotel F1 is easy to spot on the right, opposite the commercial area. There are no en-suite bathrooms, so the toilets and showers are individual ones in the corridor. The room door takes some figuring out: pull the round handle, enter the code, and push it open after you hear a click. The mattress was very comfortable. The shower took a while to get hot, but the water was nice once it did. You might want a bottle for a middle-of-the-night pee. There’s a small breakfast area by reception, and the counter is hidden behind a metal shutter at other times.
