Le Cheval Blanc

The staff weren’t very friendly, and the restaurant was closed for the weekend of August 15th. The rooms are under the attic and very small, with a horrible bathroom. There’s no shower curtain, and getting in or out of the bathtub is impossible. I don’t think this place deserves its 2 stars.

The food was good, but I came away with mixed feelings. The bathroom was my main problem: the shower cubicle was postage-stamp small, and I’m not particularly large, so washing was difficult. The rooms are small and outdated, and although the restaurant tries to look modern, it feels like an illusion. The hotel and restaurant are decent enough overall.

The decor in the restaurant was nice, and the meal was good value for money. The welcome and service disappointed me. The waiter's clothes and tattoo stood out, and the waitress didn't smile at all. While helping the waiter clear plates, I broke a stemmed glass. When he brought my dessert plate, I had to push the shards aside myself, and they stayed on the table until we left. I wouldn't expect that from a Logis de France establishment.

The staff were professional and friendly, and that's what the stars are for. The food was just okay. The rooms are outdated, the bathroom is tiny and not very clean, and the whole place smells of old things and mothballs. A two-star Logis de France hotel like this is hard for me to understand.
