The view is great, and we focused on enjoying the area and its superb hiking routes. But there were extra charges for linen and cleaning, mentioned in an email only after booking. TV and Wi-Fi also cost extra if you want to use them. The carpet was quite dirty when we arrived, there was mould in the microwave, and we had to clean the cutlery. We ended up using our own things from camping. When we raised the problems, the manager Eric said he wasn’t responsible for the prices or the old equipment, then pointed out that 98% of customers hadn’t complained. Huh? Avoid it if you can.

Be cautious about handing over your card details. We were asked to leave them as a deposit when we rented, and the manager told us to write the information on a piece of paper that she would destroy when we left. It’s the only time I’ve used that card, and two days ago it was used without my permission. I wanted to warn other guests to be careful about leaving any credit card information.

Chalet 35 needs a new microwave, ideally one with a combination oven, and new cooking equipment too.
