Hôtel A L'amarante

I'm writing this for my grandmother, who came away very disappointed. The food was awful, with canned meals every day. She still remembers the evening she was given a plate with six salsify. The room was also shockingly dirty, especially the shower, so she used the showers at the thermal baths for her entire stay. She'll be back in Barbotan, but not at this hotel.

I've stayed at the Amarante every June or July for four years, and it hasn't let me down. The peaceful setting, comfortable rooms, generous breakfast, and very reasonable price keep me coming back. It has the feel of the old-fashioned hotels where my parents and I used to spend our holidays. The hostess is so welcoming and really knows how to make you feel at home. I think I'll return next year ;-) M.A.

The hostess was very welcoming, but the hotel itself felt neglected and dirty. There was dust and cobwebs all over, and the sink and toilet were already dirty when we arrived.

A lovely family feel, with a warm welcome and menus prepared with care. It’s a peaceful place to stay while enjoying the thermal baths.
