Hotel Orizonte

Early check-in was possible, the rooms were clean, the beach was easy to reach, and the receptionist was very friendly. It covers the basics you’d expect. But the place seems past its best: the furniture is worn, and the hairdryer looks ancient. There’s no fridge in the room. Ours smelled a bit musty because of the air conditioning. Turning it off helped with the smell, but then the room got warm. Our room was right by the entrance, reception, and bar, and sound insulation throughout seemed poor. We had trouble falling asleep and were woken early whenever someone came in or went out. The safe also has a physical lock, so someone has an actual key, which didn’t feel trustworthy. We didn’t try the restaurants, so can’t comment on those. Breakfast, though, reminded me of the cheap roadside motel breakfasts in the US. It wasn’t worth the money, and we started bringing our own food as an addition. One day we came back to find the room had been serviced and the window left wide open. We always double and triple check that we haven’t left things open ourselves. Our ground-floor room faced the road, so we thought that was not very diligent and shouldn’t happen.

The staff were very kind, the rooms were clean and nice, and the setting was enchanting.

Quiet, nicely located place. We paid 110€ to upgrade to a sea-side view, which felt a bit pricey for the off-season. Breakfast and dinner were good and not too expensive. The WIFI was good too.

The hotel was pretty shabby, and the price was high as well.
