Meals around one big refectory table turned out to be a real plus for us. We enjoyed chatting with the young German couple on one side and the French couple on the other. Up in the mountains, a little off the beaten track, I imagine you often end up among people with similar outlooks, whatever their nationality. We stopped for a lovely night while crossing the Pyrenees from France to Spain. The place is quirky, but stylish, and the facilities are excellent. Xavier, the host and owner, gave us a genuinely warm welcome and wanted us to enjoy what he had created. We did. His wife cooked food that was restaurant quality, and very good. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

We loved it. The setting is breathtaking, and Julie takes care of the food, which matters in a place like this. Xavier’s big dream comes to life in the atmosphere and all the thoughtful details. Absolutely fabulous.

The town is beautiful, with lovely views, and our room was comfortable. We also had a great time chatting with the proprietors and the other guests. The food was delicious, and our stay at Auberge Toison D Or was incredible.

We had a great room, with a big window looking up the valley toward the mountains. There’s good walking nearby, too. The setting and views were fantastic, and the staff were great. The food was good.
