The restaurant was good both nights, even with a limited menu on Sunday, and the waiting staff were lovely. We also made the most of the pool, terrace and garden in the nice weather. Our Garden room had tasteful decor, a good shower room and a separate toilet. Les Orangeries is an old building, and the owners have kept its character, including little touches like the metallic birds on the restaurant tables. It sits in a beautiful setting despite being classed as town centre. We stayed two nights and will come back. For us, the facilities make the price fair.

The pool is enormous and refreshingly cool, good for swimming a few lengths. Our room took quite a walk through the winding corridors and looked onto the busy main road, but the windows blocked the noise remarkably well. We spent one night here while cycling to Bordeaux and would happily have stayed longer. It was the priciest hotel on our trip, though the hotel and its setting felt worth it. The staff were friendly and very helpful. I'd eat at the hotel, as the choices in town are extremely limited. We did find a nice Tabac nearby for a couple of drinks.

The dinner was the real highlight, an impressively good three-course meal each evening, and the waiter and chef put in a lot of care every time. The “Business Stopover” half-board deals are worth looking out for. They include a spacious, comfortable, lovely room and a small but pleasant breakfast in the morning. Simply great little hotel!

The restaurant really stands out, with creative food made from local produce and an excellent wine list. The manor house has been restored sympathetically, and the rooms are spacious and clean. The grounds are beautiful, and there’s a Tesla Destination Charger and a private car park, which is essential in a small village. The pool is lovely, though cold. Rooms at the front get some road noise, and the bathroom could use some updating.
