We loved watching the animals through the picture window of our simple but well-equipped houseboat lodge. The lodge sits on a pond, with birds and Nutria swimming nearby, while ponies were across the water. Goats and Alpacas were in the paddocks along the path to our lodge. The Alpacas were goofy and adorable, especially the mother with her newborn. It was all very peaceful, and from our window we could see a bit of Grand Cru (Bourgros ?). October was a beautiful time to visit Chablis, with fall colours all through the vineyards. Breakfast arrived each morning at 8AM, and Stéphanie, the friendly manager, helped with our special needs when it mattered. We appreciated her.

Great location. Talk to the llamas, and switch the sauna on full blast about 30 minutes before you want to use it. The gift shop takes cash only. Stay here!

Our room was cosy even in the cold and rain, with lovely views over a pond full of wildlife at sunrise and sunset. It was our favourite room so far on our driving trip around France. There’s a personal jacuzzi and sauna, and the owner, Stephanie, has thought of everything. She’s very sweet and made sure we were happy. The place is a quiet slice of countryside just a few minutes’ walk from central Chablis, and the Chablis wine was exquisite. I highly recommend staying here when you visit the area.

Stephanie was an excellent host, and breakfast was delicious. The wine fridge was stocked, and the savoury snacks were excellent too. It’s a great base for visiting wineries, with a comfortable bed, excellent linen and facilities. A lovely place to relax in nature and enjoy the hot tub. I’d recommend it.
