Le clos champagnac at Hotel Golf Chateau de Chailly

The terrace in the cottage grounds, with chairs and parasols, was a lovely spot in summer. Inside, the cottage was clean and decent, though nothing special. The air conditioning felt old, and the attic apartments got very hot. There weren’t many signs, so finding and reaching the cottage was difficult. Worth knowing before booking: the hotel and cottage are separate, though that wasn’t made clear to us. We were surprised to be charged €20 per person per day to use the hotel facilities, including the pool, tennis court and spa. We hadn’t expected an extra charge just for the pool. After we discussed it with them, the hotel gave us a discount, but pool access still comes at an additional cost.

The price felt a little steep for decor that’s somewhat dated. I was in an attic room on the top floor, where poor insulation meant the old, noisy air conditioning had to run constantly. If they aren’t planning to update the decor, I’d at least suggest replacing the air conditioning. The property is very pleasant, especially for its location.

The golf course next door is lovely, and the staff helped us sort out problems. There’s parking too. Our apartment, though, felt a bit neglected and showed its age. It had only skylights, so there was no view, and one side faced straight onto the street. The kitchen had just basic equipment.

We had a lovely reunion weekend, with seven adults and four children staying together in an apartment. It had great amenities and was impeccably clean, and the staff were exceptional. The location is magnificent, about 2 hours and 40 minutes from Paris. The brunch was top-notch. Highly recommend it.
