The room wasn’t clean, and the pillows were nowhere near standard size. There was no choice of pillow length or firmness, so we had to put three little ones into one pillowcase just to make something usable. For a place rated four stars, that felt more like two. Ask about the pillows before booking.

We were given a 10% refund only after discovering in our room that there was no hot water. The receptionist had checked us in and taken payment without mentioning the problem. That’s completely unacceptable. What a shambles.

We ended up here for a night at the end of a ski holiday because of the weather. It was acceptable, about what you’d expect from a three star hotel. A get-it-done sort of place, and it did the job. Now we can move on.

At breakfast, the woman clearing tables kept banging dishes and cutlery right beside us, even though there was plenty of room on the other side. Then at 9 pm we tried the restaurant, and the man took my menu and shut the entrance without telling us it was closed. He didn’t seem willing to speak with us at all. The staff were awful.

The bathtub drain wouldn’t clear, and the toilet light was out. We reported the light at reception straight away, and they said they’d fix it the next day. Instead, the key card was deactivated, with no explanation or apology. I can’t see what makes this a four star hotel. We stayed at another four star place nearby for a similar price, and it was very good.
