Chalet Hotel le Castel

The staff were friendly, but the rest of our stay was disappointing. There was no hand soap in the room. We asked several times and kept getting more shower gel, so we had to use that to wash our hands for two days. Our room was cleaned even though we had put up the “Do not disturb” sign, with our valuables left out in the open because we hadn’t expected anyone to come in. I found my makeup brush on the floor, which was very disturbing. The room also wasn’t ready when we arrived. The pillows had no covers, so we could see how old and dirty they were. All four pillows were different sizes and had different feels, and one was so uncomfortable that it woke me in the middle of the night. If you’re taking the Aiguille du midi cable car, I’d look for somewhere in Chamonix village rather than outside it. We had to drive back and forth, about 6-8 minutes each way.

We were happy with our room, and the hotel is an easy way to get into the city centre. The restaurant was pretty good, with a couple of other nice places to eat nearby. Breakfast didn’t feel worth the price, though, and a few staff members came across as unwelcoming. With the windows open, road noise was quite noticeable, which was a bit unfortunate.

We were very happy with our four nights here in September 2024. The staff were friendly and helped us out as first-time visitors to France, and we’d definitely stay again. We had a top-floor room with a balcony and an amazing Mont Blanc view. You could even see the mountain through the shower skylight, and the bathroom was great. After our daily wanderings, we ate at the hotel every night and tried almost the whole menu. Everything was wonderful.

The best thing here is the staff. They’re professional, hardworking, friendly, and will go far out of their way to handle requests. Special thanks to Antoine, who welcomes guests on arrival and when they return after a long day in Chamonix. He’s a good example of the whole team. I’d come back without hesitation, and the owners are lucky to have such nice people working here. I’m staying here now and glad I found this clean, modern hotel. The rooms are large, the beds comfortable, and the air conditioning is among the best I’ve had in a hotel room. It’s very hot in Chamonix right now, and most hotels don’t have air conditioning. The restaurant serves excellent food, too. Chalet Hotel Le Castel deserves 5 stars, especially in summer.
