A lovely place to stay, with gorgeous views and plenty of amenities. The local boulangerie is fantastic.

We left wishing we could stay longer. Our accommodation was clean, comfortable, and handy for getting around, with a direct view of Mont Blanc. Adriana was such a helpful, efficient host, and the welcome gifts were a lovely touch. There’s an elevator, with lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Perfect! 🤩

The location is great 👍👍👍, but our one-room apartment was really just functional. The bathroom could have felt more welcoming, even in such a small space. The kitchen, floor, and carpet were filthy 😣, so going barefoot was out of the question. I had to buy a pot because the ones supplied were so disgusting that I couldn’t cook with them 👎. Cleaning supplies were kept in the wardrobe, and there was an open electrical panel inside too 🤦‍♀️. I can’t say whether the other apartments are like this, but ours badly needs modernizing and renovating. Then the rent might feel justified.

The scenery here is spectacular, and I’d come back for it. I eventually found the places and information I needed online 😆. The studio itself has the basics for cooking, including a microwave, coffee maker, kettle, glasses, plates, and pots. The views of Mont du Milli are beautiful, and the cable car is right across the street. A few things made the stay frustrating. If you book through Booking.com or Airbnb, you can get a free train and public bus pass for your stay from the tourist office. We only learned about it when they asked whether the accommodation had issued one. It hadn’t, and had just handed us the keys 🤣. I get cold easily, so I asked for an extra blanket. The booking office said it wouldn’t be a problem, but we didn’t get one. Luckily, there was heating and I’d brought warm fuzzy pajamas. Booking.com also let us choose an arrival time, but a PDF sent three days before arrival said check-in was at 4 PM, even though we were due around 11:30 AM or noon. They said Booking.com offers the time choice but they set their own check-in time, which wasn’t stated anywhere. They couldn’t confirm early check-in until the day before, depending on when the apartment became available, and we didn’t hear back until we were already there. Fortunately, we got in on time and didn’t lose the day. The Wi-Fi stopped working at some point overnight, and on different days and at different times the hot water stopped flowing. We don’t know if there was a schedule or a limit. Messaging them through Booking.com was also a bit complicated. They replied, but rarely answered our questions, so looking online or on a blog was quicker and more specific. In general, the place is spectacular, but the people... ugh. If you don’t speak French, you’re treated like an outcast. People ignored us, weren’t kind, and cut in line as if we weren’t there. In a tourist destination, I’d expect people to be more used to tourists. Asking questions even made us feel like a bother. They didn’t speak English, or didn’t want to.
