Best Western Plus Hotel Du Parc Chantilly

The location is a real plus: the hotel is in a lovely historic area not far from Paris, handy for seeing the region. Staff were friendly and helpful, and both the room and shared spaces were clean and well kept. We slept well, too, thanks to comfortable beds and pillows. There were some letdowns for the price and four-star rating. Our room had no minibar, and when we arrived around 22:30 the bar was shut, so we couldn’t get even water at the hotel. The room stayed too hot despite the air conditioning. Parking is very cramped, with narrow spaces that are hard to maneuver in and out of, and breakfast didn’t feel worth what we paid. It’s a reasonable choice if location and service matter most, but those issues took away from the stay.

I was shocked that the beef fillet came with alcohol in its sauce when the menu said nothing about it. The waitresses didn’t know either, and had to ask the chef. They came back saying there was “a small amount of alcohol.” If I hadn’t kept asking, the waitress would have reassured me into eating it. I’m paying 40 euros for beef and potatoes, and expect to be told if alcohol is used, especially when I haven’t agreed to it. Families come here, and young children may be served this food without their parents knowing. How can it be acceptable to add alcohol without informing customers? Is that even legal?

The room was spacious and lovely, with a comfortable bed, and the location was great. But the welcome at check-in was rather cold, and the room stayed extremely warm all night. I’m not sure the air conditioning works, if there is any.

The room was clean, the service very good, and the location excellent. That’s most of what worked. Parking is very limited, and the AC wasn’t working on a hot day. The continental breakfast was sparse, and the bacon was raw. Without the location and good customer service, I wouldn’t recommend it. A decent three-star hotel overall.
