César Hôtel

The person at reception was very friendly, but the room itself was very basic for our stopover from Switzerland. There was no air conditioning, kettle, tea or coffee, glass, fridge, towels, or parking, and the WiFi was poor. It's an old hotel with no lift, so we had to carry our luggage up the stairs.

I had to look elsewhere for charging, since this hotel had neither parking nor an electric charger, though there were charging points a street away in two directions. The staff spoke little English, but were so friendly it made up for that. My attic room had no window to look out of, and the toilet felt cramped, though everything was clean. The shower was great, and despite the very hard bed I slept well. Breakfast was plain but fine: a chocolate bun, croissant, half a baguette, coffee, orange juice, and a small dessert.

We needed to leave quickly after breakfast, which was meant to start at 7. The receptionist/server arrived late and put nothing out; there was cereal but no milk. Other people were going in and out of the kitchen and serving area, but when I went in I was abruptly told I wasn't allowed. I was given a little bread and pain au chocolat for two people, even though I'd paid for breakfast. The morning staff member's attitude was very poor. The evening staff were fine, and the room was okay, which made the breakfast experience all the more disappointing.

Everything was clean and the room was decent, and the service was good. They even printed a map for us. The downside was the heat: there was no AC, and our room got pretty hot.
