The setting was superb, and both the welcome and service were very good. We were so glad we ate at this beautiful place. The food was excellent, we had a wonderful evening, and we’ll be back.

The food was excellent and the service professional in this charming place, both indoors and out. It’s a lovely spot for a couple or a group of friends, though the price reflects the setting. While you’re there, stop by the lounge to taste the cognacs displayed in front of the library. This sublime, distinctive nectar is made only in the Charente region. A gastronomic discovery awaits in the land of the gods’ elixir, COGNAC!

We were on a cognac and whisky tour and stayed at the hotel, where we enjoyed two excellent meals. The staff were wonderful, and the food was beautifully prepared and presented. We finished the evening at the hotel bar. I’d love to come back!

The friendly, smiling, attentive service saved the evening for me. The team clearly did their best to make it enjoyable, and their kindness stood out against the rest of the experience. L’Yeuse has obvious potential and a setting that could make for a memorable visit. The old building has real charm, presence, and history, but the contemporary decor feels completely out of place with its character. It comes across as an almost jarring layer of design that takes away from the original beauty. The plates were nicely presented, yet the cooking lacked flavor and personality. I looked for a distinctive touch or something that would move me, but it never came through. Nothing was unpleasant, but nothing stayed with me either. It’s a place I’d want to return to for what it could be, more than for what it is today.
