I cancelled the booking in the end. I was travelling for work with clients, and the way the reservation was handled didn’t feel professional or friendly. The price quoted over the phone changed from what was shown on the website after I mentioned I was coming for a trade show. When I questioned the sudden increase, I was pushed to decide right away whether to keep the rooms. They said their rates were still attractive and that plenty of other customers were waiting. It’s a shame, since the other reviews and room photos looked very positive.

The wine list has some extraordinary options, including Valencay, and the service was impeccable. The portions are generous, the ingredients fresh, and the food full of flavour, all prepared with care. One word: excellent. This restaurant is worth the detour, and a must-visit address.

Nadine and Jacques are such kind, accommodating owners. Do stop by if you’re in the area, though hurry, as they’ll soon be retiring, and they’ve earned it! The room felt welcoming and the bedding was comfortable. We also ate at the restaurant, where the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. An excellent hotel and restaurant.

The owner was very accommodating when we had to cancel in March because of Covid, and later when we needed to change rooms. We had a spacious, comfortable room at an affordable price, and there’s parking at the hotel. It’s a small, elegant place in the historic center of Châteaugiron, a charming and pleasant town near Rennes. We had a very warm welcome, and the sun was shining during our short stay.
