Camping L'Art De Vivre

We got a voucher on arrival for a free visit to the wine museum in town, including the exhibition and degustation, and the staff were helpful. It's a pleasant little campsite on the edge of town, with nice pitches, a small bar, and it wasn't too busy. One warning, use plenty of insect repellent before heading outside. The mosquitoes love it here, and I came away with plenty of bites.

The owner is very nice, and the pool was clean and pleasant. The toilets were really good too, though most pitches didn't have grass. But the cicadas were extremely loud and sat on our tent and chairs, making ordinary conversation difficult. The mosquitoes were the worst we've ever seen: we got about 15 bites each in half an hour, and they even bit through our clothes. Those two problems mean we won't come back.

What a lucky find under the pine trees. The pitches are shaded, which was lovely in summer, and the place is tidy and clean. The people running it are lovely too. We enjoyed the bar and restaurant in the evenings, took a dip in the nice pool, and rented bikes to explore the area. Breakfast croissants and baguette were delicious. I'd really recommend a stay.

You can bike to all sorts of places from here, and Chateauneuf du Pape is only a few minutes away by bike. We were there on a very windy day, so check the forecast when booking, the wind can be strong. The campsite bar wasn't open, but the pool was; it looked lovely, though it was too cold for us to try. Showers were warm, but the sanitary area felt chilly at that time of year because of the Mistral. We were glad to find this peaceful campsite among the trees and nature, and the other guests were quiet and considerate. I'd recommend it if you like a calm, natural setting.
