La ferme saint Jacques

After such a long drive, this was a real gift. The food was excellent, the staff lovely, and they were so kind to our two boys under five, who loved their meals. Many thanks.

We had a range of dishes, and the Fricassée was delicious. The desserts were excellent, with fresh fruit. Our waiter was very friendly, though it seemed they were short-staffed, so there was a bit of a wait between courses. Highly recommend!

We won't be back. The food quality didn't justify the high prices, and we later spotted a €5 charge for bottled water we hadn't ordered, since we'd had tap water. I couldn't eat the pulled lamb main because it came with some kind of puréed mash that looked and tasted like baby food. The waiter also gave my wine to someone else before correcting it, and our bottled water went to another table while we were served tap water, which was fine by us. The head waiter was friendly enough but came across as supercilious. When I tried to check the bill, he drummed his fingers at the till as though bored, and we felt rushed to pay. We didn't notice the extra charge until we'd left.

We had a really nice meal outside, where the seating was cozy and pleasant. The food was very good, and our waiter spoke English and helped us choose wines. Great service.
